Amazing flash - I love the way that your iris looks - I've never seen anything like it!
The fact that the focus is blurred until it reaches the surface of your eye is awesome.

As I said in my previous reply, a lot of the photo as adjusted in post processing. It was originally in full color and very evenly lit.
My eye is actually a greyish-blue and dark yellow, but I desaturated every color except for the yellow and darkened the blue channel (to make the iris a bit darker. Next, to cover up the bloodshotness I had and the somewhat focused lower lashes and ringlite, I blurred everything but the iris. Finally, to help pull attention towards the eye, I applied a lighting filter to darken the edges. Someday, I'd like to get an even closer shot (this one was taken at about 2 times lifesize), but I'm going to have to come up with a more reliable way to measure the focal distance... Or convince a friend that the flash won't cause permanent damage.
